Pet Holding traces its origins to 1974, when it was founded in Ankara, Türkiye by Prof. Dr. Güntekin Köksal under the name Pet Trade Bureau. Taking its name from the first three letters of the word “petroleum,” the Group has successfully completed projects in oil and gas, mining, construction, tourism, and real estate across a wide range of international markets.
Over the past five decades, Pet Holding has established partnerships and business relationships on all 7 continents across Türkiye, the Middle East, Central Asia, Europe, and Africa.

Petoil is the Group’s energy company, specialising in oil and gas exploration and production. Since 1990, the company has operated in Türkiye, the United States, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and Yemen, acquiring and developing oil and gas assets across multiple jurisdictions.
Today, Petoil continues its operations in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq while actively pursuing opportunities across Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, and the Arabian Peninsula.
Established in 1979, Petkontur is the Group’s real estate investment, development, and construction company. The company achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first Turkish contractor to undertake a major construction project in Siberia, delivering the turnkey Novokuznetsk General Surgery Hospital, a 500-bed healthcare facility.
Since then, Petkontur has successfully developed and delivered a diverse portfolio of projects, including healthcare facilities, industrial plants, residential communities, tourism developments, urban regeneration projects, and the restoration of historic buildings. The company’s expertise extends from land acquisition and project planning through to construction, delivery, and asset development.

Founded in London in 2023, Merks Investments Ltd was established to bring the Group’s investment expertise to the United Kingdom market.
